More of Torres del Paine National Park (Now with photos!) - (Saturday, December 22 - Serrano River to El Calafate)
My first photo of the morning was of Pradeep doing his yoga at the campground!
We spent the morning sightseeing around Torres del
Paine. Again, not much I can say that
will add anything, so I will just attach some more awesome photos! I was finally able to take a photo of a guanaco that didn’t
immediately run when we got close.
In the afternoon we began riding to our next stop which
was El Calafate, back in Argentina. Along the way, we
needed to stop and put in fuel because both Pradeep and I were down to the last
bar on our fuel gauges. We stopped at this
gas station in the middle of nowhere. We
pulled in and the doors are locked and no one is around. There was a house next door so Wilfredo knocked on the door, no response. Wilfredo walked around the house, knocked on a few windows, still no response. Next he looked in the garage, no one. We went across the road to the police
station and there was no one that could help us. We headed back to house by the gas station and tried knocking on the door
again, still nothing. Wilfredo decided to drive up the road to another house.
Soon another car pulled into the station also looking for gas; Pradeep
explained the situation to them. When Wilfredo returned, he had someone following him; it was the station owner. The owner knocked on the house door, and magically, a
women opened the door and helped us fuel up.
Go figure – no idea why she didn’t open the door when Wilfredo
knocked.
After getting our tanks filled, it was time for another 60 km stretch of gravel road. This was by far the roughest section of road we had been on. To make it more of a challenge, the wind was blowing like crazy. This was segment very challenging and exhausting. After we finished the rough and rocky road, it was another 100 km heading into the wind to reach our destination. This was the most physically challenging day of the ride so far. Today we road 363 km or 225 miles.

Tomorrow we are off to get a close up view of a glacier! There is just so much to see here.

Amazing pictures .. I'm afraid I might get stuck if I try that yoga pose!
